During this period of Covid-19 restrictions, Sweeties offerings are not available via our normal outlets. We served the community by preparing thousands of subsidy emergency meals for Durham Public Schools (see us in a YouTube video!) and donating hundreds of meals for Chatham County Meals on Wheels program.

We may be able to provide limited personalized catering in compliance with State and local regulations.

Sweeties specializes in traditional Southern-style cuisine primarily prepared with fresh, local, often organic ingredients. We honor our rich food traditions and serve vegan, vegetarian and/or gluten-free dishes that are healthy, nourishing, and delicious.

Sweeties is

a prepared fresh and frozen comfort food provider;
a wholesale vegan bakery for select eateries in Durham, NC;
a prepared-meals provider, serving lunch at The Hutch at Lyon Park (Durham, NC), Tuesday - Friday (on hiatus due to Covid-19);
an approved vendor at the Alamance Farmers' Market (on hiatus due to Covid-19)
a full-service catering company, whose clients include non-profits, religious and community groups, businesses, and those holding private social events;

Sweeties is committed to health and justice in our communities. In addition to serving whole, healthy foods, we pay our workers well above minimum wage, hire members of our community who may not be able to find jobs elsewhere due to disability or contact with the criminal justice system, and have strong links to and support from people actively engaged in anti-racist organizing. As our business grows, we will be exploring collective economic models.

We offer a full spread of traditional vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free foods.

If you are avoiding meat, dairy, or high-fat foods for health or environmental reasons, you don’t have to sacrifice your culture to eat healthy and flavorful foods.

The food we serve looks good, tastes good, and is good for you.
Sweeties’ alternatives will surprise you with how close they are to foods you remember from childhood. Staying connected to our heritage is important, and Sweeties makes that possible.

While we do not use pork products, Sweeties is otherwise happy to customize menus suited to meet your needs. Please feel free to inquire about food items that do not appear on our website.

Sweeties is named after founder Stephanie Terry’s great-grandmother, who was conscious of the need for healthy food for her family and served unforgettable traditional Sunday dinners.
